is an award-winning Toronto based photographer and visual storyteller who specializes in evocative images of the living world. Raised in Regent Park (Toronto, Canada) as the city began to tear his community down & apart he felt the urge to document everyday life in his changing neighbourhood. The artist uses photography to showcase stories of perseverance, resilience and the power of community. He has worked with organizations such as UNICEF, MACLEANS Magazine and VICE. The artist recently came back from Somalia where he shot stills for #LoveArmy an organization started by Jerome Jarre, Casey Neistat, Ben Stiller & Chaka. The most special thing to Yasin is #ShootForPeace. Yasin who is also an early childhood educator found a way to mix both his love of children and photography by starting a photo program in the fall of 2015 in Regent Park. After one year the program was sponsored by CANON and has been widely featured in many news articles such as Upworthy, American Photo Mag and most recently CNN. Through social media platforms Instagram (26k) & 500px (195k) Yasin has accumulated over 200 thousand followers. Currently the artist is focusing on humanitarian work, traveling to countries around the world to document stories of marginalization, culture and religion.
